Chelsea`s good streak went on and the London Blues achieved a sixth consecutive win in all tournaments, beating Ajax at Johan Cruyff Arena 1-0. The only hit was Misha Batshui in the 86th minute. It was the first loss this season to the semi-finalists of the last edition of the Champions League. So the two teams have six points each in the top of the Group H provisional standings, and will meet again at Stamford Bridge in two weeks.
Eric Ten Hag had no problems with injuries and could rely on all his players. Edson Alvarez and Nicolas Talafiko are back in the starting lineup. Dusan Tadic, Hakim Ziesh and Quincy Promes, who are in great shape, had to harass Chelsea`s defense. Frank Lampard couldn`t rely on Ross Barkley, N`Golo Cante, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger. Emerson Recovery Palmieri was on the bench for the start. The manager had made a change compared to the match mentioned by soccer predictions with Newcastle over the weekend. Mateo Kovacic starts instead of Barkley.
Both teams met expectations for offensive football and started attacking from the start. The hosts were a little more active, but the first punch was in the assets of Londoners.
